- Cause: Rainbows and Smiles Foundation
The 51st edition of the aQuelle Midmar Mile is set for 11-12 February 2024, and we super excited for our return to KZN for this annual event! Despite the challenges many of us have faced this year, our passion continues to burn brightly, and our spirits remain unbreakable; together, we are going to conquer that mile and amplify our voices in the name of childhood cancer.
The Midmar Mile is more than just a swim; it's an annual tribute to the beautiful spirit of our team member Nadia's hero, her son, Hanno "Brave Heart" Lewis. In July 2014, this precious little boy died from a rare form of childhood cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, taking his last breath just three days before his fourth birthday.
Rainbows and Smiles invite old and young to join our “bee” team, not merely to raise funds, but to create awareness about childhood cancer. Join us and stand by the brave youngsters who confront this relentless disease each day because, as we firmly believe, kidz can't walk this journey alone. They need us!!
Dive into this mission in memory of a child, a cherished loved one, or a friend who has passed, or in honour of a young hero still walking this challenging path.
In this journey, let your swim symbolize resilience, let it echo the power of unity, and let it carry the dreams of countless children facing the most unfair battle of their lives. Rally your friends and family, inspire them to support your swim, and together, let's craft stories of hope, strength, and transformation in the lives of children diagnosed with cancer.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for choosing to be a vital part of our "bee" team. Your generosity, your unwavering trust, and, above all, your steadfast commitment to our mission is appreciated beyond words.
Let us make a difference in the lives of children diagnosed with cancer one stroke at a time.
‘Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not ~ Dr Seuss’
