Help Ntombi complete her dream Campaign
Our Tea-lady, Lindiwe Nqoko, at Excel Recovery Service, has been trying to obtain a loan via banks since last year November to enable her daughter, Ntombi to proceed with her Chemical Engineering studies. But with the salary she earns it continues to be a dead-end. At the beginning of this year, I asked her why she wants to borrow money. This is when she told me about her daughter, studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Johannesburg. She has completed 3 years of study and needs to finalise her degree this year.
I couldn’t establish whether this is an NFSAS problem (it seems to be), as her mother couldn’t give me any answers concerning this. The bottom line is that she needs to pay R43 000 to the University to be allowed to finalise her studies. Lindiwe has since succeeded in getting R33 000 together towards this sum of money. So she needs another R10 000 to help Ntombi to register for her studies at UJ. The final date to do so is this Friday, 9 February 2024.
When I asked her to tell me why she was studying for this degree, I got this answer from her:
I started studying Chemical Engineering in 2021 right after finishing my matric in 2020. I’m studying this course because what chemical engineers do is develop and design chemical manufacturing processes. I love designing plants that we work with and I find comfort in my school work and when I’m in the laboratory. I have been studying it for 3 years and this year is supposed to be my final year. I would also love to do an Honours degree if granted the opportunity. I’m a child who was always in my books, I live for academic validation. My life has always revolved around books.
Then I asked her about her childhood and background and got this beautiful testimony from this girl:
I was raised by my both parents. I grew up in a warm and loving household where prayer is everything. I have always been a child who loved staying indoors and spending most of my time alone. I wouldn’t say I had a very tough upbringing because I was well taken care of by my both parents. My mom taught me to always be in my books since I was in primary school that’s how I grew fond of studying. I have never experienced peer pressure or anything because I was always alone and didn’t have any friends and I think that worked to my advantage because it kept me focused on my school work. That’s how I managed to pass.
I truly believe this girl SO deserves to complete her studies. I can only imagine what a change it will bring, not only to her life but also to her family, who have just been supportive and created a solid base for her.
This is a shout out for somebody who might have some connection or big purse who would or could help, either financially or with advise. Or in this case contribute anything you can to assist.
PLEASE HELP TO ALLOW THIS LADY TO FINALISE HER DEGREE THIS YEAR?
